C.S.P.E.
Subject aims
CSPE aims to make students aware of the civic, social and political dimensions of their lives. To give them a sense of belonging and to give them a capacity to gain access to information and structures relating to the society in which they live. We also aim to give them the ability and confidence to participate in a democratic society.

Time Allocation
Each class up to third year have one class period per week in C.S.P.E. This could be of 35 or 40 minutes duration depending on the class period
Grouping of Pupils (Mixed ability, Streaming)
Pupils are grouped on a mixed ability basis. All groups are taught in their base class groups e.g. 1A, 2B, 3C
Student Access to Subject / Level
All students have access to C.S.P.E. up to Junior Cert. and then sit a common level paper in the Junior Certificate
Class Organisation
Classrooms are arranged on a traditional basis to facilitate a teacher led lesson. However when students are engaged in discussion, project work or debating – seating is arranged in a more informal manner to facilitate learning process.
